Is Classic Blue your favorite color?

Pantone goes classic yet elegant with their choice of color for the upcoming year as they announced Classic Blue as the color of 2020 on Thursday, December 5.

Updating their social media accounts, Pantone declared “PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue” to be the Pantone Color of the Year 2020. Quoting the global authority on color, Classic Blue is “a timeless and enduring blue hue, timeless in its simplicity.”

Additionally, the company says that by picking Classic Blue as 2020’s color, “this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.” Classic Blue also “fosters resilience”, as Pantone tells.

The color selection, as Pantone explains, is selected by the company’s color experts. Further noted, Pantone said, “To arrive at the selection each year, Pantone’s color experts at the Pantone Color Institute comb the world looking for new color influences. This can include the entertainment industry and films in production, traveling art collections and new artists, fashion, all areas of design, popular travel destinations, as well as new lifestyles, playstyles, and socio-economic conditions.”

Pantone’s Color of the Year has been running for two decades already, with Cerulean as the first ever declared Color of the Year for 1999. Since then, colors picked by Pantone have served as influences over the years on different industries like fashion, art, design, and graphic design.

For 2019, Living Coral is the Color of the Year while on 2018, Ultraviolet reigned.
