It is the start of pageant season once again. In the upcoming Bb. Pilipinas beauty pageant on March 18, 2018 at Smart Araneta Coliseum, 40 beautiful women will be vying for the six prestigious titles to represent the Philippines around the world. Filipinos just looove pageants, they love the glitz and glamour, and women taking command of the catwalk. But more than that, we Filipinos look forward to the Q&A portions the most. And interestingly, this is also the part where these queens feel intense pressure the most.
So how do these beautiful women prepare for the dreaded Q&A portion? How can they achieve that “Uwian na, may nanalo na” moment even before the names of the winners are called?
Jonas Gaffud, beauty queen-maker, pageant expert, and Aces and Queens founder gives us a glimpse on how he trains his girls for Q&A. To English or not to English? What are the most common questions asked? Worst mistakes to make when answering questions? Is there a formula for the perfect answer? These are just some of the things he tackled in his book, The Crown.
“Now, a lot have asked me my gold standard for Q&A. The one whose answer and deportment in Q&A should be emulated by future aspirants. This is really a difficult question. All A&Q girls have proven their worth in Q&A. All of them were confidently smart. Always confidently beautiful. And always answered from the heart,” said Gaffud in his book.

Q: How do you, as an independent woman picture yourself five years from now?
“Basically, I picture myself as someone who is a woman of character, a woman of principle. Exuding beauty with substance. Thank you.” – Zorayda Ruth Blanco Andam (Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2001)
