There were many tales about the origins of Sansinukob and its five regions. Through the ages, different stories sprout and fade. But there’s one that many now believe would stand the test of time and would get passed on to the succeeding generations. It was the story told by the truth holder of Sansinukob, Babaylan Gloria.
According to Babaylan Gloria, Bathala created Sansinukob from a plucked star in the night sky, the brightest star that he turned into a beautiful island—a paradise.
Sansinukob must be the most beautiful out of all the things that Bathala created. But however magnificent the place is, he still had a feeling like something is lacking in it, like there is some kind of emptiness within its beauty. Until the idea of creating humans hit him.
Since then, the paradise became a perfect world. A world filled with energetic harmony. A world filled with life and love. Because of the people, Bathala became even more caring of Sansinukob.
With his deepening fondness to the entire paradise and the humans he created, he soon decided to send two of his most powerful sons, Apo and Sarimaw, to watch over and to protect Sansinukob. It was a decision that one of his two sons became very much unhappy about.
Ever since Apo and Sarimaw were sent to Sansinukob, Sarimaw started feeling like he’s unimportant to his father Bathala. He cannot believe that his father sent them away to take care of his other new children. It sparked Sarimaw’s jealousy. His jealousy that intensifies each day he spends watching over the humans that he utterly dislikes and angrily looks down upon. While his brother Apo willingly accepted their father’s decision and gladly obeys Bathala.
