A Modern Woman’s Guide to Finding Love Today

Valentine's is just around the corner! And us girls would def shop 'til we drop just to find the perfect outfit for our date nights!

But first things first, it’s important to note where the date is, and what you’re going to do. Women need to be like sponge and adapt to their date and to their surroundings.

Don't worry, we got you covered! Now here are some tips from Ruffa G on what to wear when you go out on a date.

1. Football Game

Show that you can be chill. Wear a cap and jeans and sneakers, with no make-up look. Show that you can be a cool girlfriend. Be simple.

Tip: Guys like it when you’re easy to deal with. Try not to be too high maintenance.

2. Dinner Date

You have to look elegant and do not show too much. Go with a mix of elegant and sexy. Don’t be manang, but also don’t show too much cleavage. Wear a good pair of heels, a nice clutch, and less make-up. Maybe smoky eyes and nude lips.

Tip: Red lipstick if you’re single and going out with girlfriends, not when you’re on a date.

3. Formal Event

When you're single, dress up for myself, but when you're with someone, I dress up for my date. Normally, they still like it when it’s classy. Simple, elegant, less make-up. Not too much beadwork. Nothing too ornate or avant-garde. More of a do-it-yourself classy look.

4. Movie Date

It's kinda cold in the cinema so you can wear a shawl and a sweater. Try going easy with a white shirt and jeans, sneakers, ballet flats, or espadrilles.

5. Meet the Parents

Always go for classic looks. Never show cleavage. Peg should be Kate Middleton, who is stylish yet conservative. Remember that you should look like someone they’d like to see their son marrying. You don’t want your son to end up with a girl who will give problems.

This book is about finding true love today, despite the odds (but not in spite of our mothers). Truth & Lies My Mother Told Me is now available for preview in the NoInk store!

The book is a collection of some of my self made poems from the last couple of years of my life that tackles my personal experiences in love, personal struggles, depression, heartbreak and moving on.
